[He opens his mouth to say something as she steps forward, but closes it as she hugs him. He hugs her back, clinging a little, trying not to cry again. He feels sick, like he's going to throw up.]

[She'll just rest her head on his shoulder, rubbing his back as soothingly as she can. It's worth a shot, isn't it?]

[On the one hand, he's worried. On the other hand... she does know how to handle herself... and he doesn't want to seem pushy.]

I wouldn't mind if you come.

[She can handle herself, but...his presence would be reassuring.]
